Live Ready

As your coach, I’ve made as one of my objectives over the past few years reorganizing my work week to include a regular time for reading and writing. It has taken some time to change habits and if I’m honest, it’s been painful. My habits—good and bad—are deeply entrenched and don’t change easily. That said, I’ve made some good strides this spring and summer, and with the help of some new support folks (including the very tech-savy 14-year-old son of one of my clients – thanks Charlie!) I am putting material out more regularly.

Check out the blog this week and you’ll notice there are a few more posts than usual. You may begin to notice some themes and patterns developing, like Friday Funnies, The 20 Questions, and maybe some others. Also, we have a new title for the blog: Live Ready!

Live Ready—this is both the theme of my blog and my purpose in life. To live ready means to live without the possibility of regret. I am striving to live with excellence in every area of my life, and in the months and years ahead I’ll be sharing what that looks like in different facets of life. I am your coach, but I am also a husband, a father, a business owner with employees, and a human being with a body and a soul. All of these require my attention daily. I desire to live my life for the glory of God and the benefit of those whom God has place in my life. My aim is to live each day ready, as if it were my last. My hope is that you will join me.

Check in daily. You won’t always find every day’s post as helpful as every other, but I promise, if you follow me in this, your investment experience will be a more positive one. And my prayer is that you will have more peace of mind as we learn and live together.

Take a couple of minutes and sign up on my website to receive an email every day when I post. This is currently a double opt in, so you have to enter your email address and then click the link that is sent to your email in the following minutes. Once you start receiving the notifications, just click if the post sounds interesting, then take 3 minutes and read or watch. You can also connect with me on LinkedIn and Facebook and follow me on Twitter. I will do the same for you if you’re connected there. These are good tools to keep us in better communication.

Why a blog? Five years ago if you asked me if I would be a “blogger” I would have said, “No chance!” But this medium is incredibly efficient, and as I’ve confessed before, writing has done more for my ability to think well than any other discipline. I’m also convinced that most of you spend a lot of time on-line. And for those who don’t we will still meet with you as often as you’d like and will invite you to join us quarterly for our events. If you’re out of town, all of our events will also be posted to the blog so that you can watch them when you are free.

Leave me your comments, and keep attending our coaching events. We want our group—now over 100 households!—to get to know and support each other quarterly at our lunch and dinner events. My promise is to bring you relevant and fun topics that will help you learn and grow as a seasoned investor.

Bring those you care about and share these posts with them. I am convinced that Wall Street and its marketing engine are encouraging the mismanagement of the portfolios of millions of hardworking Americans. Through their well-crafted scare tactics and claims that research has given them a crystal view into the future, they are bent on causing you to take actions based on your emotions. Coupled with the media frenzy for clicks and advertising dollars, the average investor is ripe to be picked, chewed up, and spit out before they even know what hit them.

To help you and those you care about fight these destructive tactics and patterns, I will be holding over 30 coaching events during the next year. I need you to attend and bring others along.

Free markets work! I am convinced of this, and I am convinced that the reality of this truth makes a huge difference to you as an investor.

We all need a coach! I do. You do. For better or worse, at least for the time being, I’m yours. And I’m extremely humbled and grateful for this opportunity! You have my total commitment to your success in building wealth in every area of your life for the rest of my life.

Live Ready.

Evan
